The secret to life is written down somewhere…

Take the opportunity to expand your brain every day...

It wasn’t until the middle of 2017 that I put much stock into actually learning things beyond on the job training, or random things that pop up on my social media timelines.  The shift in my life really came when I started to understand that reading books, listening to audio books, and trimming out a lot of the mindless crap I was consuming would pay me in huge dividends later in life.

Its awesome to meet like minded people (especially peers) that like to share the knowledge they find, give recommendations on new books to enjoy, or a podcast that was insightful. Too many people share the drama and gossip that comes form mainstream media. Let’s keep the shift going. See what I’m currently reading/listening to, and what I have enjoyed in the past.  If you have something to add, please let it in a comment below!

Currently Consuming:

A must read for anyone that is looking to tune up their brains. This is an old book, but the traditions and teachings have not changed. I have read it before, but now its about finding something new in the pages.

The 5 Book: Where Will You be Five Years from Today?

I just ordered, and am looking forward to starting it. (will have it soon)

Recently Finished:

Great book on the power of getting up and starting the day off right. I’m about half way through, and really enjoy the stuff that Daymond Jonn writes.  So far its awesome!

Amazing book on the driving force that sent Daymond John into massive success. Its a great eye opening look at what it takes to beat the competition, beat the odds, and make it big! I really liked it. Probably why I got his 2nd book.

If you’re going to read anything on business and leadership this needs to be part of that. Plus the 2nd book in the series (The Dichotomy of Leadership) makes a great next read. The book is packed full of great stuff that helped turned the lights on upstairs an me looking at my leadership positions differently. Definitely worth the read/listen.

Just like the 1st book in the series… I loved it. The authors give a lot of mind staring examples of how their battle field experience has created better leaders. This has been paramount in my being able to traverse the different work environments.

Gary Keller (who I later learned is the one who helped start Keller Williams the real estate giant) is a genius. Lots of great thing to help grown any business you have (just supplement the “realtor” stuff) with your own business. A lot of the teachings cross different businesses well.

Gary Keller is a fantastic author to peak your brain. This book was great in me helping find the core reason I am working so hard in the careers that I chose. It was a great book to see how huge companies had to do similar things, and challenge their thinking to become market monsters. Great read, and something I will probably end up reading every year.

Dan Lok is a funny guy, and great to see how his brain works with business. He is a younger guy, so I enjoyed having the same age references that I could understand. This book is the reason I now have my own website…

I started it to right after his “F.U. Money” thinking it would be a supplement to it, but it was more for helping readers understand how to market and influence customer actions. Great for anyone in sales, marketing, and business for themselves.

If you’re in sales, this is a MUST READ!!! Period, it was awesome, and I’m super thankful that it was referred to me by a good friend Steve Walker.

I used this book in all of my team coaching. It’s a great resource for how to have more structured calls, emails, and overall improved communication people, and clients.

YES I read a book on relationships: it was worth ever page! This was super revealing on the mechanics behind the opposite sex and how their different ways of handing issues can cause larger problems if not understood. If you want a more successful relationship… do yourself a favor and check it out.

I feel like this book would help the world out. It’s great to fortify your relationships (both platonic and romantic) and give the best you can. This helped me understand why my mom likes to buy random junk for the kids, and how come I am so responsive to certain people’s touch. Read it for yourself…

One of the better negotiating books I have listened to. I specifically like the life experiences that the author uses to highlight the different lessons. I had most of my sales leaders consume this book to get their take on it. Good idea to bounce the teachings off of one another to get a more rounded sense of what the message is.

The other's I've consumed (reviews to come)

Always Growing, always Learning

What are your thoughts on any of these? Have you read/listened to any of them?

There have to be some great offerings out there I haven’t heard about, so please let me know what my next book should be!
